Funding has been provided to continue the development of the Earth Systems Sciences program at Clark Atlanta University. There were several accomplishments made during the grant period. The first year of the grant plans were finalized for establishing an Earth System Science Program. A faculty development team was initiated for the Earth System Science curriculum. Collected and procured materials for a reading room. During the second year of the grant an Earth System Science laboratory was designed and equipment was procured for this laboratory. A 5-year dual-degree program in physics and meteorology with the University of Oklahoma has been initiated. For the final grant period, Clark Atlanta has instituted a Synoptic Meteorology course and laboratory. It has planned and developed an outreach weather and climate mini-course. NOAA has awarded a grant to Clark Atlanta University to continue support for the development of a curriculum in Earth Systems Science adding three new courses, to recruit and provide scholarship support for students in the ESS and dual degree programs, to design and equip a synoptic laboratory, and to support the positions of a computer systems analyst, an administrative assistant and a technician.
